Do I need a permit to build a shed? An agricultural building is a building that must meet a number of rules of the Code urbanism and the Code rural. Obtaining a planning permission is therefore subject to the same rules as other non-agricultural buildings, namely compliance with a floor area limit, a maximum height, but also the conditions of removal from to third parties.
There are two types of agricultural buildings: livestock buildings and their annexes, and constructions for agricultural purposes, such as storage sheds (crops, products and equipment), packaging buildings, as well as tobacco kilns. A building permit is not mandatory for all construction situations. When your project is a new building, the filing of a planning permission is only required for areas of more than 20 m² (prior declaration below).

In the case of an extension to an existing building (except farm platforms) to create an additional floor area, it is cumulated with the old surface and will be subject to a deposit. You are not required to use an architect if the total floor area is less than 800 m² in the case of farm buildings. In the case of production greenhouses, they must not exceed 4 m in height and a floor area of 2,000 m².
